Facing the Michael Myers Within

In the Halloween films, Michael Myers is the face of relentless evil—silent, emotionless, and seemingly unstoppable. No matter how far the characters run, he always finds them.

Spiritually, that’s how sin, fear, or guilt can feel. You think you’ve escaped, only for it to show up again in another form—chasing your peace, haunting your joy, or suffocating your purpose.

But the message of Scripture is this: darkness is not unstoppable—God’s light is.

Evil Is Real—but It’s Not Stronger Than God

“For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world…” Ephesians 6:12 (NLT)

Just as Laurie Strode had to recognize that Michael wasn’t an ordinary man, we must remember that our true enemy isn’t people—it’s spiritual darkness. Fear, temptation, bitterness, and deceit are real forces, but they fall before the power of Christ.

You Can’t Outrun What You Won’t Face

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.” -Psalm 139:23 (NIV)

In the movie, hiding only made things worse. Likewise, what we avoid—our anger, sin, and shame—eventually finds us. Healing starts when we stop running and let God into the dark corners of our lives.

Lesson: You conquer your “Michael Myers” by bringing what’s hidden into the light.

Darkness Dies in the Light

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”John 1:5 (NIV)

Evil can appear powerful, but it can’t survive exposure to light. When we invite Jesus into our fear, He doesn’t just comfort us—He conquers what chases us.

Lesson: Light doesn’t run from darkness; it replaces it. Let your faith do the same.

Stand Your Ground

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord
your God goes with you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV)

Laurie stopped running when she decided to fight back. Spiritually, that’s the moment victory begins—when you choose to stand firm in who God says you are, not who fear says you are.

Lesson: Courage isn’t the absence of fear; it’s trusting God while afraid.

Closing Thought

Michael Myers wears a mask—emotionless, blank, and hollow. The enemy of your soul wants to make you the same: numb, disconnected, and faithless.
But through Christ, you are made alive, seen, and secure.
You don’t have to live haunted. You live redeemed.

“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?” Psalm 27:1 (NIV)
