My Weapon is a Melody
Every day can be a battle. A battle for our hearts, a battle for our minds, a battle to discourage, a battle to get out of bed, a battle to be content in whatever state we are in, a battle to bless God even in the darkest times. Satan seeks to crush and destroy us. When we are so focused on our own pain and battles, we are less useful. Think of a nice shiny car, but with a broken hose. This small hose can cause the entire car to be out of commission. This too is how Satan works in our life. He may sit back and watch us break with the smallest hose. That is all he needs to put us out of service.
Many of us have been out of service for quite some time. This is because we have so focused on goals or things that may be outside our purpose. How do we fight battles in our life and overcome them? What should our only purpose be? Praise and worshiping God. That is it. God is constantly seeking out people who just want to worship Him. We constantly ask for blessings in our life, but how many times do we bless our Father? He wants us to turn on lyrics that worship Him and engage in true worship of praise to Him. This brings so much happiness to God. David had a heart for Jesus. Even in his darkest times, hiding in caves and deserts, his heart flowed with a desire to just worship God. Even when his enemies surrounded him, he worshiped God.
This was the heart of David in the middle of a desert when he was hiding from his own son who was trying to kill him. Psalm 63:1b-4 My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You. In a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory. Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You. Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.
I love the song playing on the radio now by Bethel Music called "Raise a Hallelujah" which proclaims that our weapon can be a melody.
I raise a hallelujah, in the presence of my enemies
I raise a hallelujah, louder than the unbelief
I raise a hallelujah, my weapon is a melody
I raise a hallelujah, heaven comes to fight for me
We really are not alone. Isn't is amazing to think that "all of heaven comes to fight for me". MIchael W Smith sings that "it may look like I'm surrounded, but I'm surrounded by You." What if we are fighting all the wrong battles? What if we lost our hearts to the things of this world and we have lost the ache of loving our Savior? What if we are doing all these "good things", but still not taking the time to worship Him in our own lives. Being too busy serving Him to really worship Him. We can get lost in the tasks, lost in the act of living, lost in trying to keep up and staying busy. We have lost sight of rest and peace which are all things He wants to give us, but we are missing out. While we hide in the desert, we should long to be in His sanctuary. We can sing a melody and bless the only One who gave everything (His own life) so that you would even be in existence. Thank you Father for loving us! Bless you!
