Facevbook Status (Quo)
Perusing through facebook statuses on any given day, we notice several things... those that stay pretty busy (always running somewhere).. people with "loads 'o drama"... aggravating instances... jokes... trials... ppl counting down til the weekend... (its not even monday yet).. pictures depicting family outings... utube videos... political hinting... but very few blessings...
many of us have followed each other's lives from all over the country as we wade through tribulations such as death... a sickness.. trouble at work... aggravation with co-workers... yet we fail to update our status... with the blessings as well as the "blahze"...
why is it that we will notify the world... how angry we are at a fellow human being... or "check in" at a meaningless location... yet fail to share how blessed we are for the people we do have.. that love us... our families... God's love for us... despite us...
I frequently check facebook status's to update my prayer list that I keep on my Iphone because so many of us suffer from loneliness.. broken hearts.. sadness.. alcoholism... addictions... recovery... What better place to collect 'prayer requests"... Many of us go out into the night to protect a society that could care less about us... Who better to pray for than those that respond to inevitable tragedies...
Though we tend to focus on the negativity of life Psalm 112:4 states "even in darkness, light dawns for the upright for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man". "Good will come to him who is generous and lends freely, who conducts his affairs with justice".
Psalm 112:7 "He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord". This is encouraging to those of us who wage war with the problem of anxiety. We must awake from the tunnelvision tendancy to focus on the part of our life that is lacking and re-equip our minds with visions of contentment. Our faces are ravished with lines of worry and anxiety... We must realign our thoughts with blessings and not just the curses...
i challenge us all to peruse our status's with what we update the world.. are they meaningful... uplifting.. encouraging.. or... are they directed to the madness... confusion.. and chaos of this world... many of these things are used to distract us from the blessings.. that await us.. once we learn to lean on Somone other than our "emo-selves".... we will find that our updates... are far more... up-lifting...
