The "Crazy Man" with The Message...

Many of us walk through this life carrying many worries... we worry about work, we worry about our families... we worry about what we are wearing to a dinner... we worry about our nails... we worry about bills... we definately worry about what tomorrow may bring... but how many of us really give concern to what our eternity holds.. We give little thought to the possibility.. that one day.. the life that we now know... will forever be removed...

Isaiah says in chapter 24 that "it will be the same from the priest to the people, from lender to the debtor, for master as for servant". No matter your status, wealth, fame, looks.. we will all end the same... in death...

Isaiah was a prophet with a message that was not at all popular. He preached about end times instead of "good times" which was not a popular topic of choice. People in his time were living it up in partying and drunkeness.. sin abounded.. prostitutes were common and the people had got caught up in the "living" and wrong choices and forgot about the consequences...

He warns the people that one day the music will stop, the beer will become bitter to the drinkers, and the earth will be laid to waste... and the world just laughed... The people wanted Isaiah to "chill out" and enjoy life... but Isaiah had a "higher calling"... he was to be a reminder... an annoying timer with the clicking sound that even the loudest and most vocal objector could not silence...

"Terror awaits you" Isaiah warned... and the people hid their ears.. they drank away their stains... temporarily silencing the message... but the truth stared them dead in the face each waking morning... Isaiah advised that the sins of the people would one day destroy the earth... and the message never lost its resounding volume...

We need to prepare for that day when we stand face to face with the Judge of the world.. our trial is ever looming... yet we fail to prepare.. we fail to forgive.. we fail to say no... we fail to love.. we fail to believe... Our stubborness is caught up in our own greed... greed for fun.. greed for temporary relief... greed for money... greed for status... we raise our kids with no direction... our phones and TVs are our idols... our football games... and beers... and "good times" are our day to day focus.. in the silence... we shut out the Isaiahs.. the message is lost like an annoying forward in our junk mail...

May we embrace the message and apply it to our lives... May we start working on our hearts... and not just our social calendars and friend lists....
