Bad Romance

Since I am finished with my devotional on kindness and am waiting for the "Love Dare" book for Christmas "hint hint" mom and dad, I will begin studying current events and applying them to a more spiritual tense... so that I am not just inundated with the world.. Without the balance of the spiritual realm... which is much more important.......

Lady Gaga has plunged into the American scene with a fierceness... whether it is her weird antics or her "tea with the queen"... she has hit #1 on Itunes with her song "bad romance"... it is a very catchy song that is especially good for an alarm clock wakening "rah rah ..Ah ah ha... Roma...roma-ma"... some of you can sing along... she starts off with "I want your ugly, I want your disease... I want your everything as long as it’s free" "I want your love, love, love"" and so on...

Isn’t is interesting that even the coolest of songs... basically deal with our human need for love.... and though I doubt very seriously she is crying out to God... who by the way does offer His love for free.. We are too busy running after people or things that can never satisfy our love... yet ignore the one who loves us the most...

The first verse we learned in Sunday school was John 3:16. "For God so loved the world.... that He gave his only begotten son... that whosoever believes in him... shall have everlasting life"... there it is... the best lyrics ever to be written... yet we forget... we are lonely, depressed, longing for love,, He loves us...

Lady Gaga's lyrics go on "I want your horror; I want your design... cuz ur a criminal as long as ur mine... I want ur psycho... blah blah...want you in my room when ur baby is sick."... The song goes on about infidelity... cheating... no commitment... maybe because the statistics in our country prove heavily that 50 percent of marriages wont work... what a discouragement to those faithful people who stop at nothing to make their relationship work... it is not easy... living with someone for 60 years as my grandparents have..

And then as Tiger Woods faces the horror of divorce and our governors and presidential candidates romp around the nation with no moral code or fabric of self-control...we wonder... how are we supposed to make something stick that is statistically not in our favor?? When America's #1 song encourages us to cheat... and sneak... and go "psycho" for a few minutes of pleasure... see... we are just not used to telling ourselves no...

The chorus of lady gaga's song is fitting... I want your love and I want your revenge... me and you... could write a bad romance... see, she even gets it... that the battle for love... has been beaten by the battle of lust... lust over rules or "trumps" love in half the cases... we throw away a lifetime for a second of "trash".. For a bad romance... so that it is now written in the book of our lives... forever... what we've done... what we've become... a nation... that is so greedy and needy and wanting.. Never satisfied with the eyes that sit across us every night at our own table...

Prov 6: 25 Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes

Isaiah 57:5 You burn with lust among the oaks and under every spreading tree; you sacrifice your children in the ravines and under the overhanging crags.

As our country creeps closer and closer to complete ungodliness... may a few of us stand up... and learn to do the right thing... to not only be an example..But to encourage others to do likewise... how many people do we embrace each day that our desperate for a Savior... for a purpose... we have all sinned... all screwed up... all had our share of "bad romances"... but we are not forever plagued with the "A"... or whatever letter may involve our resume of failures... we cannot give up on ourselves because we've hit some potholes.. We are not useless, or invaluable... we are cracked pots (not a crackpot) but broken vessels... who by our pains... misfortunes... and life experiences are now "well-equipped" to train and perform correctly... let us lose the glamour... stop searching for the psychos and the horror.. And start looking to the One who loved us all along... when you call, he will hear u........
