Kindness Stops the Bleeding

Kindness stops the bleeding... when we bloody our hands by healing the wounded , we can begin the richest kind of praise... (Calvin Miller)... Not the praise you sing on the dance floor of an 80's club... or the excitement you felt when the Gators lost... but a true worship experience....

Many of us were raised in the church... we went sun mornin.. sun nite.. wed nite... and various other days for retreats... and events... we went mostly because we were forced.... many were "turned off" by the hypocrisy of the church members.....because churches are very similar to political parties.... the gloves come off... the ugliness is revealed... and many could not run fast enough from the "drama".... the "guilt"... the two-faced bad examples.... so they never looked back....

When we look at the parable Jesus was teaching the Jewish lawyer in Luke 10.... he was trying to open the lawyers eyes to the truth.... the truth was this lawyer needed to STOP studying... stop trying to prove this right.. and this wrong.... and get out there and start "doing"....

We all need to much proof... we examine the Bible and the church like a CSI one hour episode..we like everything to be solved in an hour.. the perp put away.. and everyone sleeps good.. we want the Bible... and God to "prove himself" to us.. we think because of what we do on a daily basis or what circles we are in... that we cant be a child of God... why not? because people who are subject to fail... tell you that your not?.. are these the same hypocritical people who turned you off years ago... to the church... to God... altogether...

Why do we let someone in a suit (not the pastor, but a church member)... tell us whether or not we are worthy... all those people you watched drink it up on saturdays and fight for seats at Golden Corral on sundays after church... are humans... we all fall short... we cannot let others get in our way of God... it is the best trap of all... to turn a soul away from God due to the actions of the church and its members... you may think that because of the circles your in.. and the choices you've made in life, that you can NEVER be a child of God.. this is completely false because even the person who tells the smallest of lies... is a sinner.. but is loved...

we all fall short... we are all desperately seeking the truth... the fully saturated sense of God to flow into our empty lives..its the void.. thats never fully filled in the lies of pleasure, at the bottom of a bottle, in a pill, in a drug, in a strip club, on the internet... those things are temporary... God is everlasting.. and he loves us... he loves you...WORSHIP IS NOT DESIGNED FOR THE WORTHY BECAUSE NONE OF US QUALIFY..

We do not choose... to love God.. OR be kind...WE ARE KIND BECAUSE WE HAVE CHOSEN TO FINALLY SPEND SOME TIME WITH GOD.. STUDYING HIS WORD... AND NOT JUST INDULGING OUR EVERY SELFISH NEED... when we do this.. when we stop putting "me" first...we become powerful! noone... can stop us... we can stop the bleeding.... the hurt... the ache... when we finally stop trying to heal our own wounds... and let God take over the triage.............

love yal... have a great weekend...

Failure is a Gift

I sat in the room, nervous. I had sensed this moment coming all week. Though I felt a small comfort and peace, deep inside, I was terrified. I was bracing for the letdown—far from my first. I made small talk with someone twenty years my junior, knowing that soon, he would ask me to step down. That reality was hard to face. My mind drifted back to my first year as a deputy. I had called my father repeatedly, distressed over my fifth write-up. Each time, he told me to thank them for the discipline, not to quit, and to keep my head up. But I was overcome with sorrow. I felt like a failure. Maybe I could earn straight A’s, but I had no common sense. I feared I would never catch on. I was beginning to give up. Still, my dad insisted I keep going. In my first week alone, I had discharged my weapon—firing over sixteen rounds at a bull on Super Bowl Sunday. Not long after, I found myself in a full-blown foot pursuit of an escapee, my face, mostly pride battered from the struggle. My track...

My Weapon is a Melody

Every day can be a battle. A battle for our hearts, a battle for our minds, a battle to discourage, a battle to get out of bed, a battle to be content in whatever state we are in, a battle to bless God even in the darkest times. Satan seeks to crush and destroy us. When we are so focused on our own pain and battles, we are less useful. Think of a nice shiny car, but with a broken hose. This small hose can cause the entire car to be out of commission. This too is how Satan works in our life. He may sit back and watch us break with the smallest hose. That is all he needs to put us out of service. Many of us have been out of service for quite some time. This is because we have so focused on goals or things that may be outside our purpose. How do we fight battles in our life and overcome them? What should our only purpose be? Praise and worshiping God. That is it. God is constantly seeking out people who just want to worship Him. We constantly ask for blessings in our life, but how many ...

Hurricane Milton: The Anxiety Chronicles

October 8th is National Face Your Fears Day, and many Floridians are confronting that reality as Hurricane Milton approaches, less than 24 hours away. While the news is filled with alarming phrases like "explosive Category 5 hurricane," it only amplifies the anxiety of millions who already struggle with fear. Yet, in the midst of this, we must remember who is in control of the storm. "You rule over the surging sea; when its waves mount up, you still them." Psalm 89:9 "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you." Isaiah 43:2 "The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him." Nahum 1:7 The prophet Haggai had a word for the Israelites when they were focused on beautifying their homes and lives. They had the best decor, the latest tech, and endless feasts, but Haggai called them to take a hard look at their priorities  He said, “You’ve ...
