A Shot at Love... Without Tila Tequila
Today Tila's fiancée, Casey Jones, died at the age of 30 which brings us back to the chaotic MTV show that littered TV screens across the world.... a shot at love... it was definitely a shot.... a longggg shot..to win the heart of this seemingly discontent women searching for who she was... and what she wanted... in a festering swamp of barbarians seeking fame and recognition as well as maybe a "romp in the hay"... no one really "succeeded" in winning the heart of this Hollywood socialite on the show... though some would probably list themselves as "fortunate"... but what Tila was looking for legitimately is rarely found behind a video camera... what she did find eventually is now gone.........
Society would tell us... that there is no such thing as a "shot" at love... because love fails... love hurts... love = pain... and so on... Our friends encourage us to bail at the slightest drop...and we don’t dare risk our hearts... or perhaps change... we measure our love life by the "reality" version of love shown on TV and it does not seem to equal out... we think we deserve more... or better... we opt out...
We are to be in the business of loving... there is no opting out... there should be no other options... 2 Timothy 1:7 says "God has not given us a spirit of fearfulness, but one of power, love, and sound judgement". Loving is not just a woman's job... or just a man's... Love is what makes us "put away childish things" and embrace responsibilities... Love causes us to sell the "secret bachelor pad"... delete the "secret files"... put on the "horse blinders"... lay our lives down for our families and friends... Love motivates us to stand up against injustice and fight wrongdoing...
Love does not hold on to pass wrongs... it cuts them loose... how many times a day do we throw up past wrongs in the faces of those we love... THAT IS NOT LOVE... we must learn to truly forgive... if we did truly forgive, we would not still be bringing up past mistakes...
Everyone has a "shot at love" with Jesus... not everyone signs up for this experience because it is not as "glam" as being televised on MTV... He doesn’t eliminate us after we are accepted... we are not sent home with a broken heart... we aren’t humiliated in front of millions of people... we are given free room and board and food and entertainment for eternity... we are guaranteed to be loved by the "man of the house"... The journey may not be as exotic as the show claims to be... but wouldn’t we rather have a God who sees our heart and loves us anyway... than a fake televised kiss by a stranger who has no heart to give... and no "real" shot at love...
